I am so excited for the upcoming summer months! Livingston is a main community for a lot of tourism going to Yellowstone Park, and so this sleepy little town really picks up and starts bustling with people and great outdoor events. And so I'm making some plans to horse around!......
This summer, my studio adds a whole new element to my world. Moving into it in October, I imagined the hours I would spend in there painting freely and without constraint. This has proven to be very true, as I spend most of my time there (I eat breakfast AND dinner there!)
But it wasn't until the last few weeks that I realized the excitement of having a location, downtown, for exposure.
Now I am focusing on getting merchandise and prints ready to go!
One of the biggest events each summer is the Livingston Roundup Rodeo. Even before I moved here, I would visit and go to the Rodeo. So, in anticipation of that, I've started working on a series of horse paintings and drawings.
The thing I appreciate about horses is their mass, and their powerful movements. The amount of energy they have is a perfect subject for me, because I get to paint big and expressive.
My goal is to get 5 more paintings in the series, and then offer prints etc. I also plan to sell smaller, more affordable sketches.
so! If you come to Livingston this summer, make sure to stop in! 113 W Park street, down the hall from MT Cup!
