I have had the good fortune to get the opportunity to lead several "Paint nights" at a local brewery, a local wine bar and soon a local coffee shop! (Shout out to Neptune's Brewery, Corx Wine Bar and Tumbleweed Bookstore!) (I love that I say 'local' and yet all these places are 20mi-50mi-70mi apart haha! love montana)
This is a wonderful challenge to me because instead of just painting away and 'going with what i feel,' I have to be very concious not only of WHAT I'm doing but HOW I'm doing it, and in addition, the easiest/most effective way to communicate it to others.
It's also been a fun challenge because I focus more on overall composition and elements that I can't always focus on when I'm challenging myself learning other techniques for painting. Plus... they need to be "cute!"
Lastly, it is INSANELY rewarding when someone comes to one of these nights convinced that they could NOT EVERY IN THE WHOLE WORLD paint a picture. And then, they leave with something that they genuinely like! They're surprised by themselves!
And as an artist, I love showing others that being an 'artist' is simply a long process of learning. And that truly, we are all artists. (even just a little itty bitty bit).
Anyways, Cheers! Paint away!
